Bannigan Bags November McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month Award

Stuart Bannigan’s role in the engine room at Partick Thistle during November has been recognised with the long-serving midfielder top of the pile when it came to fans’ votes for the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award.

Logan Chalmers, William Hill Championship Player of the Month Scott Robinson and skipper Brian Graham were also on the short-list of potential winners however Bannigan’s performances in the wins over Dunfermline Athletic and Hamilton Academical and the draw with Raith Rovers saw him selected by supporters.

As well as picking up the engraved trophy Stuart opted to hand over the charitable donation that McCrea Financial Services are providing each monthly award winner to research into Motor Neurone Disease after being inspired by a visitor to The Wyre Stadium at Firhill this week.

Stuart said: “It is unbelievable what Kevin Sinfield has done and is doing. MND research is important to our club as well with Andy Murdoch talking at the event about Don McVicar who was his captain at Partick Thistle.”

“It is an amazing effort and hopefully the publicity Kevin is getting will do the fundraising the world of good.”

As for the award Stuart said: “I have not won as many of these awards as you might think when you look at the number of games I have played so it is special. I am feeling as fit as ever and I have been happy with my form.”

“It could have been a number of us that won this award as we have been on a good run. Against Hamilton we took our chances but at other times we have been grinding out results and that bodes well for the next few months.”
