Euan Ferrie Wins Second Warrior of the Month of the Season!
Euan Ferrie has been voted as the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for February, after emerging victorious from a closely-contested poll of the Warrior Nation.
It’s the second time in the 2023/24 campaign that the East Kilbride RFC product has taken home the trophy, narrowly edging out Tom Jordan to add to his previous award from September 2023.
Ferrie was to the fore in defence during Glasgow’s sole match across the month of February, making a nuisance of himself in the 40-7 victory over the Dragons at Scotstoun.
Only the eagle-eye of the officials could deny the back-rower a first-ever try in Glasgow colours, his run to the try-line cut short following a forward pass in an otherwise impressive display in front of a sold-out Scotstoun.
The former Scotland U20 standout was invited to train with the senior Scotland setup ahead of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations, linking up with Gregor Townsend’s squad to prepare for the tournament in addition to his club commitments.
“I wasn’t expecting to win this one, to be honest!” Ferrie told glasgowwarriors.org, who was presented the award by the girl's rugby team at Springburn Academy.
“The squad is in a really good place and everyone has been working hard to make sure we get ourselves in the best possible position.
“It’s a great environment to be a part of and you can see how much we’re all pulling towards the same goal, which is competing at the top end of both competitions.
“I’m really looking forward to continuing to put my hand up for selection, and to hopefully keep being involved on the field for this club.”
As part of his award, Ferrie also earns a donation to his chosen charity – Kilbryde Hospice – courtesy of McCrea Financial Services.
“It’s a charity that’s really close to home for me,” he said.
“A lot of people I know do a lot of fundraising work for them, and it’s a great cause – I’m just happy to be able to help contribute in any way I can.”
