Fitzpatrick Voted January Player of the Month!
For the Red and Yellow Army, there was only one winner of the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award for January and that was Aidan Fitzpatrick.
The 21-year-old raced into an early lead and never let up, eventually gathering 45% of the overall vote between ptfc.co.uk and the club’s Twitter page.
Fitzpatrick has been in sparkling form since mid-December, showing everything that he’s capable of and contributing to positive results for the team.
His standout moments last month were winning the penalty which opened the scoring against Greenock Morton and then scoring a vital equaliser against Dunfermline on the way to a penalty shootout triumph in the Scottish Cup.
With Steven Lawless and Scott Tiffoney both missing games in January, Fitzpatrick bore a lot of the creative burden and was able to impress while carrying that burden.
Upon receiving the award, Aidan said:
“I feel like I’ve been playing some really good stuff recently and getting this award means that the fans have been seeing that which is appreciated.
“I had a really good game against Ayr in December and I think since then I’ve been playing pretty well and with a lot belief. I could still be doing more though so I’m working as hard as ever in training so that I can contribute as much as possible to the team performance each weekend.
“January was a bit of a mixed bag results wise. We were really pleased to get that win over Morton and then get past Dunfermline in the cup but it was disappointing to end the month with a defeat. We’ve got a chance to bounce straight back though and we’re totally focused on this Saturday’s game against Cove.”
