We are delighted to announce that veteran second rower Jonny Agnew has been awarded the McCrea Financial Services Hills Player of the Month award for January! 

Despite the poor January weather, Hillhead Jordanhill Men’s 1st XV managed to fulfil 3 of their 4 scheduled National League 3 fixtures, with Hills winning all three matches; wins over West of Scotland by 33-29, Howe of Fife by 20-6 and then a nail-biting victory against Allan Glens by 28-27 capped off a great month. Jonny played a massive part in these victories, bossing the line outs and carrying well in the loose play. He scored the match winning try at Glens with a close range burst for the line, outwitting 3 defenders in the process.

In addition to his continuous high performance on the field, Jonny also leads some of the clubs Tuesday and Thursday specialist line out work at the Club’s training sessions. He is a stickler for detail in the lineout calls, and the successful Saturday line out “wins” testify to his rugby nous.
