McBeth Voted Partick Thistle February Player of the Month!
In just his second month as a professional footballer, Luke McBeth has been voted Thistle’s McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for February.
The 24-year-old narrowly beat Jags skipper Brian Graham to earn the prize following a month which saw him make his full debut as a Thistle player having signed on New Year’s Day.
Luke was handed his first start for the club in our cinch Championship fixture at Inverness, helping the side fight back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to claim a point in the Highlands.
He retained his starting berth for a home game against Dunfermline which ended in defeat but saw him earn the sponsor’s Man of the Match award and register an assist.
Upon receiving the award, McBeth said:
“I’m obviously pleased to be voted as the Player of the Month but it was a disappointing month for us as a team and results are the most important thing.
“I was delighted to get my first starts for the club and I’m absolutely loving my time at Partick Thistle so far but there’s more to come from me and from the team.
“The focus for us is to tighten up defensively. The game at the weekend was a step in the right direction but we need to make sure we show that on a consistent basis and get back to picking up points every week.”
This season McCrea Financial Services is making a donation each month to a charity of the player of the month winner’s choice. Luke McBeth’s pick this month is Mother’s Care India:
“It’s great that I can donate a bit of money to Mother’s Care India as part of the award. They are a charity who do outstanding work to help children in India access education that they would otherwise miss out on while also doing some great stuff here in Scotland.”
