Partick Thistle April Player of the Month Nominees Revealed!
With five high stakes games to be played, April was always going to be a crucial month for Partick Thistle as the unbelievably competitive cinch Championship rumbles towards a conclusion.
Three wins and two draws represented a satisfactory return for Kris Doolan’s men as they continue their play-off push with just one game left to play.
Now, as the players get ready for that big game against Raith Rovers, it’s time for the red and yellow army to make their pick for the McCrea Financial Services April Player of the Month award from the following candidates:
Kevin Holt
In the absence of Harry Milne and Lee Hodson, it was Kevin Holt who stepped in at left-back for this crucial run of recent games. Making his first start at full-back in some time against Queen’s Park, the number four showed that he is still more than capable of playing the position as he popped up with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over the Spiders. Holt also played his part in important clean sheets against Cove Rangers and Arbroath.
Steven Lawless
The creative genius of Thistle’s number 11 has been evident over the past five games with the midfielder involved in the majority of Thistle’s best football. Lawless bagged goals against Cove Rangers and Hamilton Accies as well as assists against Ayr United and Arbroath but his attacking influence went beyond those numbers. For example, though it didn’t go down as his assist, the Jags’ second goal against Queen’s Park would never have gone in had it not been for the work of Lawless on the right flank as he linked up with Brian Graham.
Scott Tiffoney
Electric as ever, Scott Tiffoney was a difference maker for Thistle whenever he was on the pitch during April. Playing four times, he managed a goal or an assist every time he made an appearance starting by scoring the opener at Cove Rangers. An assist against Queen’s Park and a goal against Ayr followed before he then missed the trip to Hamilton. The winger returned to the team for the home clash with Arbroath and marked that return by setting up the team’s second goal.
Kyle Turner
Another consistent source of attacking threat, Kyle Turner has shown some of his best form in Thistle colours over the past five games. A goal against Queen’s Park was sandwiched between assists against Cove and Hamilton but his standout performance of April came in the final game of the month against Arbroath. The number six scored the only two goals of the game as the Jags defeated the Lichties at Firhill with Kyle’s all-round play key to the team’s effort.
