Partick Thistle August 2024 Player of the Month Nominees Revealed!
August brought with it the start of a new league season for Kris Doolan and his Jags side, offering up four different challenges to kick off what promises to be fiercely competitive William Hill Championship campaign.
A stuffy opening draw against Morton got things under way before the Maryhill men suffered narrow defeats on the road at Raith Rovers and Falkirk having been reduced to ten men in both of those games.
The month concluded with a home game against Queen’s Park and the team kickstarted the season with their first three points thanks to goals from Harry Milne, Aidan Fitzpatrick and Zander MacKenzie.
With all that having now been and gone, it’s time to select your McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for August from our three candidates!
Harry Milne
Saturday’s game against Queen’s Park was set up to be an important one after a frustrating start in the league and a good start against the Spiders was almost mandatory which is why the vast majority of those in the Wyre Stadium at Firhill were elated when Harry Milne rose to head home Kyle Turner’s corner after just 10 minutes. As well as his goal, the sponsor’s man of the match helped secure a vital clean sheet, backing up a valiant performance in defeat at Falkirk by playing a key role in victory at home, ensuring all 180 league minutes in Maryhill this month were completed without conceding.
Dan O’Reilly
The early part of 2024 was frustrating for Dan O’Reilly as injury denied him a flying start to his Jags career however, he’s kicked off the new season in impressive fashion playing every minute during August for Kris Doolan while earning ever-increasing admiration from the red and yellow army. Helping the side to a pair of clean sheets at home, the Irishman’s defensive capabilities have been plain to see as he’s cemented himself as one of the most reliable players in the Thistle ranks and shown why the manager was so keen to bring him to the club in January.
Myles Roberts
Very much an unknown quantity when he arrived on loan from Watford at the end of July, Myles Roberts has quickly shown the Thistle faithful exactly what he’s all about. It started with a crucial save less than 10 minutes into his debut as he denied Jay Emmanual-Thomas en route to a clean sheet and sponsor’s man of the match award against Morton. From there, he’s continued to impress most notably with a slew of saves as Thistle came under immense pressure at Falkirk, playing with 10 men for around 70 minutes. He closed out the month with more assured handling during his second shutout in four games, against Queen’s Park.
So, those are your nominees for the August McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award. Voting is now open and will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 4th September.
