Partick Thistle December 2023 Player of the Month Nominees Revealed!
With five games slated for December including three tough away trips, the final month of year shaped up to be a very challenging one for the Jags.
Despite that, the team have been able to secure a handful of valuable points with performances at both ends of the pitch contributing heavily to the overall effort.
Taking that into consideration, it’s now time to pick your McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for December from the following nominees:
Aidan Fitzpatrick
The November prize winner hasn’t slowed down as we head into the festive period, continuing to be a key cog in the Jags’ attack. Kicking December off with two assists in our home win over Airdrieonians, Fitzpatrick’s next goal contribution came away at Dunfermline as his corner caused havoc and was eventually turned in by Brian Graham after a Harry Milne knock on. The winger capped off December with his 100th appearance in Thistle colours, against Dundee United at Tannadice.
Harry Milne
Having missed the back end of November through injury, Milne made up for lost time during December. Coming on as a late substitute during the win over Airdrieonians, Harry announced his return to the pitch with a crunching challenge in front of the Jackie Husband stand which had fans on their feet and helped the team see out the victory. The following week he set up Blair Alston’s goal against Raith Rovers before going on to score and assist as the Maryhill men beat Dunfermline at East End Park.
Lewis Neilson
Currently on a run of 15 consecutive starts for the club, Lewis Neilson has still only tasted defeat four times as a Jags starter. This past month his defensive attributes have been required on a few occasions, most notably in wins over Airdrieonians and Dunfermline when the team were under the cosh for large spells of the respective second halves. Heading crosses away and making timely blocks, Lewis played a big part in getting points on the board in December.
Ben Stanway
It’s been a breakout season as a Thistle player for Ben Stanway and December has been one of his best months yet. Growing into his role in the Jags’ engine room, the 19-year-old’s tireless work rate and ability to read the game have proved valuable assets for the team in defence and attack. His standout performance probably came at East End Park as his battling qualities helped to fend off a second half onslaught from the Pars to secure a big three points in Fife.
So, those are your nominees for the December McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award.
