Partick Thistle December 2024 McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month Nominees Revealed!
A five-game slate in December for Kris Doolan’s Jags saw them add nine points to their total for the Championship season, solidifying their position in the league’s top four.
The first win came against Ayr United at home as Kyle Turner’s penalty decided things in Maryhill before goals from Brian Graham and Dan O’Reilly earned Thistle a 2-0 victory over Airdrieonians on the road.
Brian Graham was at it again in the first game after Christmas as he struck twice to secure a big three points against Queen’s Park at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.
Now it’s time to select your McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for December from the following nominees:
Lee Ashcroft
Thistle number 23 has made himself an integral part of the Jags’ backline over the past couple of months having started a 13th consecutive game by New Year. Contributing to two clean sheets in December’s five games, Ashcroft’s aerial presence was of particular note as he won an impressive 82% of his headers and earned Thistle the penalty which won the game against Ayr United.
Stuart Bannigan
The winner of the November McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month prize, Bannigan was in good form once again in December. Playing every minute during the month, the midfielder’s ability to recover and retain possession proved crucial in the team’s three wins as he held down the deepest position in the Thistle engine room acting as the link between defence and attack.
Logan Chalmers
Having worked his way into impressive form over October and November, Logan Chalmers continued to build during December as he added another three assists to his tally for the campaign. Setting up Brian Graham for decisive goals against Airdrieonians and Queen’s Park before teeing up Aidan Fitzpatrick for a goal in the defeat to Morton at Cappielow, Chalmers has now scored or assisted in seven of the Jags’ last nine games.
Dan O’Reilly
One of Thistle’s most consistent players of the season so far, December was the month that Dan O’Reilly finally got off the mark as a Thistle player. After a corner wasn’t properly cleared by Airdrieonians at the Albert Bartlett Stadium, it was the Irishman who rose highest to power a header into the back of the net and give his side a two-goal cushion against the Diamonds. At the other end of the pitch, he played his part in two clean sheets and won the ball back on 73 occasions.
