Partick Thistle February 2024 Player of the Month Nominees Revealed
February was a month which flattered to deceive for Partick Thistle with four results that all left the Jags wondering about what could have been.
Leads were squandered in defeats at home to Livingston and Dunfermline Athletic while the Maryhill men had to come from behind during away games against Inverness and Ayr United which ultimately yielded just one point between them.
As the team works hard to ensure better fortunes in March, we have two nominees for the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award for February:
Brian Graham
Thistle’s skipper continued his outstanding personal form across four games this month, scoring four times with a further two goals wrongly ruled out during the 3-1 defeat to Dunfermline. Graham’s efforts in February took him to 18 goals for the season in all competitions becoming the first player since Jimmy Bone to score 15 in three consecutive campaigns for Partick Thistle. The point that the team were able to take from Inverness was largely down to Brian’s efforts as he equalised twice, firstly with a penalty kick and then with a sensational left-footed volley which is up there amongst the striker’s best in Thistle colours.
Luke McBeth
When Kris Doolan brought Luke McBeth to the club from Glenafton on New Year’s Day there weren’t many Jags fans who knew very much about the 24-year-old, however, in a couple of months Luke has already settled right in to the first team picture at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill. Cup-tied for the first game of February, he came into the starting line-up for the following game against Inverness and stayed there for fixtures against Dunfermline and Ayr United. It was the Jags’ number 19 who set up Brian Graham’s goal against the Pars with a well-directed header into the box, part of a Man of the Match performance on a disappointing night for the team as a whole.
So, those are your nominees for the February McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award.
