Partick Thistle January Player of the Month Nominees Revealed
Postponements at the start and end of the month bookended an undefeated three games for Thistle in January. Two draws in league action against Hamilton and Kilmarnock were followed by a gritty 1-0 cup win over Airdrieonians as the Jags held out with ten men for almost 40 minutes to seal progression to the fifth round.
Now, it’s time to make your pick for the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for January with four worthy candidates up for the award.
Ross Docherty
The first nominee is the skipper Ross Docherty who continued the terrific consistency that he showed at the end of 2021 as we got the new year underway. Working in the Thistle engine room alongside Robbie Crawford, Stuart Bannigan and Kyle Turner at various points of the month, he flourished no matter who was next to him and even added another goal to his tally for the season as he struck a crucial late equaliser against Kilmarnock at Firhill.
Brian Graham
As ever, Brian Graham played a very important role for Partick Thistle during January. The number nine started the month by assisting Thistle’s second goal against Hamilton Accies at the Fountain of Youth Stadium and finished the month with the winning goal against Airdrieonians in the cup.
Jamie Sneddon
Going for an unprecedented fourth consecutive Player of the Month award, Jamie Sneddon hasn’t let his levels drop in 2022. The 24-year-old made crucial saves in the latter two games of the month, denying Oli Shaw from close range against Kilmarnock and doing the same to Calum Gallagher as Thistle sought to maintain their lead against Airdrieonians.
Scott Tiffoney
Championship defences are still struggling to get to grips with the threat that is Scott Tiffoney. The dynamic winger got the scoring started for Thistle in 2022 with a low, driven free-kick against Hamilton Accies and continued to torment the Accies backline in the second half of that game. More recently, the former Livingston man provided a vital out-ball for the Jags as they won 1-0 against Airdrieonians with 10 men.
So, those are the four January nominations for the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award.
