Partick Thistle July 2024 Player of the Month Nominees Revealed!
The McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month awards are back for season 2024/25 and again each month’s winner will earn a donation to a charity of their choice from McCrea.
The first supporters vote of the season follows an eventful Premier Sports Cup group stage across July with the Jags falling agonisingly short of qualification to the knockout stages.
There were notable performances during our two 90-minute wins, one shoot-out success and single defeat, so it’s time for you to select your McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for July from the following candidates:
Brian Graham
Vote for Your Thistle captain started where he left off following a hat-trick against Glenafton in our pre-season friendly, with a strike per game in the opening three fixtures of the group stage. A late winner at home to Montrose was followed by a goal and assist in the capital during the second half rout of Edinburgh City, before another composed finish against Clyde last Tuesday. He did of course find the net at Fir Park too – making no mistake from 12 yards during a winning penalty shoot-out. Now comfortably in Thistle’s top 20 men’s team goalscorers of all time, Brian will be setting his sights even higher during the season ahead.
Harry Milne
Three out of four wasn’t bad for Harry in July, missing only the Clyde home game as a precaution which meant, on a personal level, he emerges from the group stage unbeaten. After playing his part in the opening win against Montrose, Harry excelled in Edinburgh with a clean sheet topped off by a stunning strike from the edge of the box, assisted by Brian Graham. He enjoyed another clean sheet at Fir Park and was the man of the match selection of many supporters following another impressive box-to-box performance, with his mazy runs and offensive play causing the Premiership side no end of problems. A big season three ahead for the Jags number three.
Kyle Turner
It has been an impactful return for Kyle Turner in the Thistle engine room, playing all 360 minutes of our group stage fixtures and chipping in with numbers in return. He marked his second Wyre Stadium at Firhill debut with a goal in our victory over Montrose, then ran the show in the second half at Meadowbank, including a stunning direct free-kick strike as well as a clever assist to enable sub Ricco Diack to score with his first touch. After another assist at home to Clyde, Kyle gave a classy performance alongside Robbie Crawford at Fir Park and, like captain Graham, did his bit from 12 yards in the shoot-out. It’s like he’s never been away, long may the fine form continue.
So, those are your nominees for the season-opening McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month award for July.
Voting is now open and will close at 12noon on Thursday, 1 August.
