Friday saw a great night of celebration at Hampden Park at the Annual Gala Awards Dinner for Scottish Women in Sport.

McCrea Financial Services were delighted to be involved with the event, and in particular to sponsor an award which we felt reflect our own aims and objectives on behalf of our clients in selecting a winner who imparts expertise and knowledge to ensure success in their chosen field.

Jane Gibson did just that.  Jane is the primary coach at Strathallan Canoe Club, which focuses on the Olympic sport of slalom kayaking.  Since the clubs inception she has worked tirelessly on many fronts and works with beginners all the way through to the highest level at the club where they have been successful with GB selection.

As well as coaching, she focuses on the club's future, working on funding, grants, new membership strategies and staffing for expansion.  She has been a doctor to the Olympic team, assistant coach at the Barcelona Olympics and was Doctor in attendance at the World Championships in London this September.

Jane combines all of this with a demanding full time job as a hospital consultant and the demands of two children of her own, both of whom now compete at a high level.   Were it not for Jane, the club would not be there at all.

It is all these qualities that helped us determine that Jane was absolutely the right recipient of the award and we were delighted to share in the celebrations when this was announced on Friday evening.  We are also proud to have the opportunity to support Scottish Women in Sport.

Their vision is a Scotland where females of all ages, abilities, ethnicities and walks of life are participating in sport or physical activity' with a positive, equitable culture where their achievements are promoted and celebrated.
