Vote now for Thistle's December Player of the Month
December was an incredible, if disrupted, month for Alan Archibald’s side as they shook off the supposed manager of the month curse to remain unbeaten for a second month in a row. Archibald's side ended the month sitting in seventh place in the Ladbrokes Premiership table - a fantastic way to finish the year.
Postponements for the fixtures against Motherwell and St Johnstone meant Archibald’s side only had three fixtures to play during the course of December, but the side showed a strong spine and kept three clean sheets.
Kris Doolan’s 81st goal as a Partick Thistle player separated the Jags and Dundee United in the first game of the month, as Thistle edged another three points clear of the side at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership table.
Ross County were the visitors to Firhill on the weekend before Christmas and, with nothing separating the sides, an Andrew Davies OG proved to be the only goal of the game.
Thistle saved arguably their best performance for last when the side went to Pittodrie, facing an Aberdeen team who could top the division, and battled to a more than deserved 0-0 draw.
With such a strong month it was a difficult decision to select nominations for the December McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month shortlist but Alan Archibald and Scott Paterson have managed to narrow it down to four.
Stuart Bannigan
Stuart has been the driving force in the heart of the Thistle midfield throughout December, averaging 52 touches of the ball per game during the month. He also managed to add an attacking edge to his reliable defensive play by assisting both of Thistle’s goals in December, while also producing tireless play in each of the three fixtures played.
Tomas Cerny
Tomas returned to Thistle side for December’s opening fixture against Dundee United and has continued his impressive form, which saw him scoop this award in August. He has returned a calmness and confidence to the defence which had seen him, as 2015 came to a close, not concede a goal in more than 340 minutes of Ladbrokes Premiership action.
Liam Lindsay
It’s been another strong month for Liam as he continues to prove himself as a first choice pick in the Thistle team. His partnership with Dan Seaborne provided a solid platform for Thistle to build on, meaning that only one goal was required for Thistle to win both games against Dundee United and Ross County.
Dan Seaborne
Dan is nominated for December’s award on the back of being a key defender as Thistle have raced up the division during the month. His partnership with Liam Lindsay has presented few opportunities to opposing strikers and he has put his body on the line with several vital blocks to maintain the clean sheet record.
So there you have it, your December nominees. All that remains is for you to vote for your winner. Voting closes on 08/01/2016 at 17:00 so vote for your favourite now.
